Lighthouse Brewing Co – 3 Weeds Belgian Witbier Review

You know that the 3 Weeds Belgian Ale is bound to be good because it has a topless mermaid on the bottle. Besides the artwork, the 3 Weeds comes from Lighthouse Brewing as a Strong, Belgian style Wit. Pouring a crisp and clear golden colour topped with 2 1/2 fingers of head this ale smells of wheat notes, ginger, coriander and citrus. Any hops seem to be lost in the smell leaving way for the Pilsner malts to come through as well. The flavour starts off light then quickly builds into a full bodied ginger and coriander mid section. These two main notes follow through to the finish leaving the palate with a crisp and refreshing finish. The coriander and ginger blend with a warming sensation on the tongue from the 7.5% rating. This beer is not boozy but you can sense that what you are drinking is on the strong side of things. The three weeds Witbier is strong but also refreshing and smooth. This is definitely recommended for something that has a little more to it than your standard summer beer.
