The Tin Whistle Brewing Co. – Stag Apple Scotch Ale Review
From Penticton BC the Tin Whistler Brewing Company has released the Stag Apple Scotch Ale. This beer pours out of the bottle and into a glass topped with two fingers of head above a deep amber coloured Ale. The head is slow to disperse and leaves no signs of lacing on the glass. The smell is like apple pie. Notes of apple and a light cinnamon-spice compound with the caramel and lightly toasted notes for a sweet, unique and intriguing smelling beer. The taste starts off with a mellow and creamy start that builds into a lightly spiced, sweet and apple infused body. The apple is present through the entire beer but remains in the background without demanding attention. The finish has a lingering apple and spice paired with a slight boozy flavour from the high 8% ABV. The Stag Apple Scotch ale is by no means typical and will not likely be the next beer that you stock your fridge with but it is definitely worth trying. As with many quality strong and unique beers this brings something different to the table and deserves some credit. Give this beer a try, whether you love it or leave it you will be wiser having tried it!
