Vancouver Island Brewery – Dough Head Gingerbread Ale Review

Vancouver Island Brewery has released the Dough Head Gingerbread Ale as a winter seasonal. The Beer is a transparent amber-brown colour that resembles that of a gingerbread cookie. The head is about a finger thick and settles with a small amount of residue clinging to the glass. Smelling this seasonal beer the aroma is thick with cinnamon and nutmeg two staple ingredients in gingerbread. The taste is of … Gingerbread. The spices take up the front of the beer leading to a malty center and finish. The tongue is left with a lingering of nutmeg and a touch of molasses sweetness. There is very minimal hop bitterness that comes into play. Perhaps, a bit of a boost in the IBU could actually make this beer a touch more drinkable?

Alcohol – 5.5%
Size – 650ml
Price – $5.50 (BCL)
This is a Fall Seasonal Beer
