Longwood Brewery Wild Child Sour Ale Review Longwood Brewery – Wild Child Wild Sour Ale – 2017 Release Review

The 2017 Wild Child was actually brewed back in 2015 with the micro-flora harvested from the original Wild Child of 2013. This beer is 7.0% alcohol  and is sold in 650ml bottles. From the bottle the beer pours a colour of hazy amber and has one finger of head that settles moderately without a trace. The aroma is pungent with sour, wild yeast character. Sour cherries, dark fruit, toffee and caramel join a cheek-pinching sourness on the nose. Tasting the beer it has a lightness that was not found in the aroma. Dark fruit and toffee move aside and let way for tart fruit including cherries and strawberries in a sour and fairly intense package. Despite the flavour intensity, the finish is somewhat mild and doesn’t have any overpowering lingering flavours. The Wild Child is complex, sour and fruity with a very nice balance given the flavour intensity.

Alcohol – 7.0%
Size – 650ml
