Fieldhouse Brewing Fresh Hop Sartori Sour IPA Field House Brewing – Fresh Hop Sartori Sour IPA Review

From Abbotsford comes Field House Brewing’s unique take on fresh hop beers. Brewing a Fresh Hop Sour India Pale Ale, this is a beer that is unlike any other BC fresh hop brew so far in 2016. From the tall, 750ml bottle this beer pours as a rich, reddish-brown colour that is very cloudy. Topped with two thick fingers of lacing head the beer gives off a strongly soured aroma with a lemon like aroma and a touch of grassy pine notes. From the nose alone, this beer appears to be very tart. Sipping the beer the sourness takes effect early on. A strong acidity comes in quick and leads into a citrus-pine hop tone. The grassy fresh hop notes build slightly as well but the intensity of the sour notes takes charge. For being an IPA, there is not a lot of bitterness that comes with the brew, there are notes from the hops but the sourness masks any hop-bitterness that may be hiding in the beer. This is an interesting take on fresh hop beers and has some nice flavours hiding in the intense sour notes. This is worth trying but have a couple friends to share the bottle with.
