Wolf Brewing Co. – Rannoch ‘Wee Heavy’ Scotch Ale Review

Wolf Brewing Wee Heavy Scotch Ale
Nanaimo BC’s Wolf Brewing has brewed up the Rannoch, A “complex, malty Scotch Ale brewed in a ‘Wee Heavy’ style.” This traditional style Wee Heavy Scotch Ale is a deep and transparent chestnut brown colour topped with two fingers of dence, lightly lacing head. Through this top blanket of head comes notes of big malts, caramel sweetness and a touch of dark, dried fruits. The flavour too is relatively light with a malt forward base. Caramel tones come through strong but not in an overly sweet manner along side the dried fruit flavours that build in the background. Minimal hop tones fill out the ensemble making for a delicious, easy drinking week heavy scotch ale. This could just be the best to come from Wolf Brewing yet!
