Vancouver’s North Shore is a hotbed of brewery activity. Some 18 months ago as Red Truck announced it’s upcoming move off of the North Shore the local’s only saving grace was the arrival of Bridge Brewing. 12 months later the Deep Cove Brewers and Distillers opened their doors. Now, with Red Truck still brewing in North Vancouver awaiting the completion of their new Brewery Creek facility we are about to see a fourth brewery opening in the area. The Green Leaf Brewing Company will open its doors soon offering the community of Lower Lonsdale their own locally brewed beer.

More than a year of preparation has gone into the creation of Green Leaf and it’s existence is now official. With construction well under way in the Lonsdale Quay based location we are mere months away from seeing the doors open at this new, conveniently located brewery. The Green Leaf team’s focus will be on local, community, sustainability and of course great tasting craft beer. The capacity of the brewery will facilitate growler and keg sales serving primarily the local community. Maintaining a minimalistic carbon footprint and utilizing local fresh ingredients wherever possible this small micro brewery is slated to take the local community and passersby by storm.

The Lonsdale Quay sees thousands of visitors every day through the large bus exchange and Seabus routes. Having a craft brewery right next door makes perfect sense. Additionally, the Quay has embraced the idea of local supporting farmers markets, local artisans, and now a craft brewery. Whether you are waiting for the Seabus, picking up some local produce or browsing local artisan pieces you will soon be able to grab a pint and fill your growler all in one convenient stop.

No date has been confirmed for the Green Leaf Brewery to open its doors but expect to see the taps pouring in late 2013 or early 2014.

Until the Green Leaf Brewery officially opens its doors you can follow their progress on facebook or at greenleafbrew.com

That’s really cool! Always good having more breweries in every city! One thin. Red Truck is moving to the Brewery Creek District in Vancouver not Richmond.
