Kwantlen Polytechnic University opens State of the Art Brewing Education Laboratory

Langley, B.C. – The next generation of brewers and brewery business owners are refining their science skills in Kwantlen Polytechnic University’s (KPU) brand-new brewing instructional laboratory.

Located at KPU Langley, the state-of-the-art teaching brewery is a fully operational brewery designed to give students hands-on experience on industry-standard equipment.

“We’re training our students to meet a need in B.C.’s brewing industry. This includes classes with instructors who bring years of industry experience to our labs, collaboration with local breweries, and now, a full brewing laboratory with industry-grade equipment that serves students the opportunity to further hone their skills,” said Dr. Elizabeth Worobec, dean of KPU’s Faculty of Science and Horticulture.

KPU’s two-year brewing and brewery operations program launched last fall with huge demand from industry, beer enthusiasts and prospective students alike. Two semesters later, students are now gearing up for summer employment in local breweries, ready to apply their KPU brew lab skills to the job.

Registration is now open for fall 2015. For more information on KPU’s brewing and brewery operations program, and for a sneak peek inside B.C.’s brew university, visit
