The almost 5 year old brewery with a huge history to its name and building in Kelowna, continues to turn heads with their beers ,including this one, the Tennessee Bourbon Barrel Aged Imperial Stout.

For those that don’t know, BNA stands for British North America ,after the original British North American Tobacco Company that had its roots in the building that now houses BNA.

Now on to the beer! It is nice to see that the 2019 Okanagan Fest of Ale award winner for Best Stout/Porter is now available in a 500 ml waxed bottle format.

The beer pours a very dark chocolate with a tan coloured frothy head of foam that disappears quickly. The aroma is a release of bourbon, molasses and chocolate but it is more complex than that. Imperial Milk Stouts are not common , but the additional of lactose that is used in a milk stout, not only gives an extra bit of sweetness, but helps cut down the booziness of this 8.25% imperial stout. This beer is rich and full bodied with flavours of chocolate and coconut with a sweet creamy finish. There still is a lot of alcohol warmth which only means that this would be a great beer to save and cellar. It is also the perfect beer to enjoy with some decadent chocolates to sip and savour.
