Central City Brewing Launches Limited Edition Wood Aged Sour Kriek II

Central City Wood Aged Sour Kriek IICentral City Brewing follows the highly successful Sour Brown I in Central City’s Sour Series with the Wood Aged Sour Kriek II

Surrey, BC, Canada – Following the highly regarded Sour Brown I, Central City is releasing the next in its Sour Series, the limited edition wood-aged Central City Sour Kriek II.

The Sour Kriek II is a Belgian style Sour Red Ale infused with cherries and has been aging for two years in Cabernet Sauvignon oak barrels and French oak foeders. Brewed in the traditional Belgian fashion, Sour Kriek II is big-bodied and has a balance of earthy, oak tones and cherry notes that give a lightly sweet, sour cherry experience.

“We’re very pleased with the results of our sour series especially since we went with the traditional Belgian method of souring the beers and using Cabernet Sauvignon oak barrels and French oak foeders,” says Gary Lohin, Central City’s renowned Brewmaster “The Sour Kriek II is a different sour in that we infused it with cherries to add complexity to this two-year-old beer. It’s a little more tart with a beautiful cherry finish that marries so well with the sour yeast culture we use. The die-hard sour fans will be sure to pucker up to this limited release as there is nothing like this beer in Canada.”

The limited edition Sour Kriek II is available in 750 ml bottles (10.8% alc./vol.) at select private BC and Alberta liquor stores.
