Brittania Brewing Co. Britannia Brewing Co. – Wave Crusader XPA Review

Steveston’s Britannia Brewing Co. has released an Extra Pale Ale called the Wave Crusader. This strong Pale Ale comes in at 5.7% and 45 IBUs. From the bomber bottle the beer is a dark amber colour and has two fingers of head which leaves light lacing behind on the glass as it settles. The aroma is a pleasant blend of toasted malt character, light toffee and a northwest style hop of pine, citrus and earthy notes. Tasting the beer it is just like the nose only a touch lighter than expected. The malt character balances the hop tones which come through later on with a mellow bitterness. Some may argue that this is simply a pale ale and not an XPA but at 5.7% it is a touch stronger than most. Regardless it is balanced, easy drinking and a nice west-coast hop flavoured beer.

Alcohol – 5.7%
IBU – 45
