There is something about a beer that uses locally harvested ingredients. The Takumi Saskatoon Berry Sour is a locally inspired brew in Fuggles & Warlock’s limited release series of inspired brews. Sold in bomber bottles this beer pours into the glass with a rich red colour which is very cloudy. Topped with one finger of head the aroma is fruity with a distinct sour character and subtle sweetness on the nose. Tasting the beer there is an initial grape jelly lick flavour that leads into a fairly intense sour middle. As the sourness settles the jelly tones emerge again along side a big wheat character and mellow sweetness. The Takumi is a big-flavoured sour ale and has some complexity to it with the wheat tones and sweetness on the finish. As far as kettle sours go this beer is complex, flavourful, well crafted and worth giving a try.
