Back Aboard with Bowen Island Brewing

Bowen Island 2017 12 Pack LineupBowen Island Brewing Co., a BC Craft Beer Veteran is hitting shelves with a new look and new recipes

Vancouver, BC (April 20, 2017) Bowen Island Brewing is proud to announce an exciting fresh look for the 30+ year old craft beer brand. The Bowen team has been working with renowned Hired Guns Creative (designers for Old Order Spirits, Driftwood Brewing, Coast Mountain Brewing) to reinvigorate the brand’s visual presence and working with Brewmaster Joe Goetz (formerly with Granville Island Brewing) to develop a new recipe and tweak some of the existing recipes ones.

“For Bowen Island Brewing, we designed each beer to reflect a different aspect of island life. All these points of view come together to create a bigger picture: the “brand world” of Bowen Island. The updated branding and illustrative style of the can designs elevates the brand and sets the stage for expansion in the future.” – Leif Mittenberger, Hired Guns Creative.

Bowen’s new Main Sail ISA recipe comes in at an easy drinking 4.3%ABV with a mild and refreshing hop profile consisting of Nugget, Chinook, Centennial and Cascade. Staying on board from the original line-up is the well-recognized Reef Break Hemp Blonde Ale and Artisan IPA. Meanwhile the Westcoast Lager replaces the Deep 6 Lager; a clean, crisp, classic lager. And the Coastline Pale Ale is a well-balanced, approachable West Coast pale featuring Galena, Nugget, Willamette, Cascade & Apollo Hops.

All five beers will be available in their respective 6packs along with the 12pack mixer which includes the IPA, ISA, Blonde & Pale Ale.

According to their Twitter feed, Bowen Island Brewing Co. beer is actually made in Kamloops by Kamloops Brewing Co, not on Bowen Island at all. “For Bowen Island Brewing, we designed each beer to reflect a different aspect of island life. All these points of view come together to create a bigger picture: the “brand world” of Bowen Island.” – Leif Mittenberger, Hired Guns Creative. So in other words, it’s just a brand exercise? And the beer is not very good, just cheap.
