Cannery Brewing Hop Chowdah New England IPA Review Cannery Brewing Co. – Hop Chowdah New England IPA Review

Cannery Brewing has hopped on the trend wagon and has released cans of their new Hop Chowdah New England IPA. This is a hazy, northeastern style IPA with wheat in it that represents the new-age IPA that is all the rage. From the 355ml can this beer pours a hazy-golden colour and erupts with a fistfull of head. This settles slowly leaving heavy lacing behind on the glass. The aroma is a bowl-full of fruit. Notes of mango, melon, passion fruit and citrus explode from the thick head. Taking your first sip of this beer it is creamy in texture and has a very fruity character. The wheat adds a thickness to the flavour while the hops give a fruit salad of tropical notes. The bitterness is very mellow for an IPA with only 45 IBUs but it is nonetheless still an IPA. When it comes to northeastern IPAs this hits all the marks, it is fruit forward, hazy, big bodied and of course… delicious.

Alcohol – 6.5%
IBU – 45
Size – 4 x 355ml

This was my favourite beer this summer, despite the ugliest labels of all time — hope they bring it back.
