Saltspring Island Ales created their Whale Tale Amber Ale using fresh hops grown right on the brewery’s estate.  The beer pours from the bomber bottle a clear Amber with two fingers of dense, lasting tan head that leaves plenty of lacing behind in the glass.  Whale Tale offers up aromas of light pine initially, as well as biscuit tones.  Some herbal and grassy notes are present, although subtle.  In the mouth the flavour is of biscuit and toasted malts, balanced with herbal and grassy hops.  There is a subtle note of citrus that comes in late accompanied by a lingering hint of resin.  The amber ale is smooth and not overly bitter, while being very easy drinking.  The hop aromas are still prominent in this fresh-hopped beer although not overpowering and relatively balanced.

Alcohol – 5.0%
