Wheelhouse Brewing Blacksmith Brown BottleWheelhouse Brewing Co. – Blacksmith Brown Ale Review

From their core lineup comes Wheelhouse Brewing’s Blacksmith Brown Ale.  The beer pours from the bomber bottle a dark, opaque brown with two fingers of light brown head that leaves some lacing on the glass.  Aromas of rich and roasted malts come through first, along with coffee and some earthy tones.  The flavour offers some prominent roasted malt tones, followed by coffee, and toasty notes.  These flavours subside to reveal an oaky, earthiness coupled with some subtle herbal tones.  The beer has a surprisingly light mouthfeel and is easy to drink.  The bitterness is just enough to cut through the malts and the finish is fairly quick and not lingering.
