Ravens Brewing Fresh Hopped ESB BottleRavens Brewing – Fresh Hopped ESB Review

The second iteration of Ravens Brewing’s Fresh Hopped ESB is out and builds on the success from last year.  The ESB pours from the bomber bottle a clear amber colour with three fingers of tan head that lingers leaving plenty of lacing on the glass.  Floral aromas accompany notes of citrus and some herbal hop tones.  The aromas of the fresh centennial hops are quite prominent and are backed up by toasty and bready malt tones.  In the mouth the flavour is of toasted malts and caramel that meld with notes of herb and citrus.  As with last year, this is a unique beer in the fresh hopped space that offers a more subtle presentation of the fresh hop.

Alcohol – 5.75%
IBU – 30
Hops – Fresh Centennial
Malts – Pale, UK Amber, Crystal 75

Very accurate review. Enjoying it as I type this and it’s growing on me, but as a Hop lover, I would like to see more IBU’s. Very nice beer overall 4/5.

Very uncommon for a fresh hopped beer and that can mean it’s polarizing in some respects but I believe they’ve hit on something by going down the path less traveled.
