Swans Brewery Chico Rico Pale Ale Review Swans Brewery – Chico Nico Pale Ale Review

The Swans Brewbub in Victoria has upped their label game and has been able to get their beer off of Vancouver Island and into a few select Vancouver based liquor stores. In summer style they have released a session American Pale Ale called the Chico Nico. This California inspired ale comes in at 4.5% alcohol and uses american grown hops. From the bomber bottle the Chico Nico is golden-amber in colour and pours into the glass with a single finger’s worth of head which leaves slight lacing on the glass. The aroma is strong with piney, northwest style hops. Citrus, pine and a sappy nose give this a classic BC style smell that is enticing and delicious. Tasting the beer it is light bodied but has a strong hop flavour. The bitterness is quite mellow but the pine tones are strong and give a big hop flavour. This Pale Ale is as true to northwest style as it can get but with low bitterness it is still easy drinking and very delicious. If you are a hop fan but are looking for something lighter in bitterness and easily sessionable this is the beer for you

Alcohol – 4.5%
