Big Rock Brewing Barrel Aged Porter BottleBig Rock Brewery – Barrel Aged Porter Review

Big Rock Brewery out of Alberta has produced a new offering in their barrel-aged series: a Bourbon Barrel Aged Porter. The beer pours from the bomber bottle an opaque black with one finger of light brown head, leaving some lacing on the glass.  Aromas are of rich malts, burnt tones, some sweetness, sugar, molasses and the slightest whiff of booziness.  In the mouth, flavours of dark fruits are initially prominent, accompanied by roasted and burnt tones, sweetness and a slight creamy feel.  There was some lasting sweetness but no lasting bitterness.  For a barrel aged beer, this porter finishes clean with some booze, caramel and bourbon tones right near the end.  A very accessible example of a bourbon barrel aged beer.

Alcohol – 10.4%
Size – 650mL
