Powell Street & Fuggles & Warlock Yami Kettle Sour Review Powell Street and Fuggles & Warlock Collaboration Yami Dark Sour Wheat with Saskatoon Berries Review

Since opening their brewery the Fuggles & Warlock Brewery has partnered with a wide array of BC Breweries. The Yami is a collaboration brew with Powell Street Brewery. This Sour Wheat Ale is infused with Saskatoon Berries and from the bomber bottle pours a dark cherry-mahogany colour and is topped with a thin finger of head that is a pinkish hue. The aroma is dark and rich with more complexity than your typical kettle sour. The Saskatoon berries give a dark cherry and blueberry like tone that works well with the wheat notes. With this comes a dried fruit and plumb like aroma that is quite enjoyable. Tasting the beer it has a sour bite right off the bat. More aligned with kettle sour flavours the sourness takes charge up front while the Saskatoon berries give a fruity, dark and almost pinot noir-like character to the beer. This settles through as well and on the finish the wheat ale is reasonably dry with a lingering berry flavour and slight sweetness on the palate.
