Granville Island West Coast Pale Ale Review Granville Island Brewing – Small Batch West Coast Pale Ale Review

The Granville Island Brewing Company has added to their limited release line of beers with the West Coast Pale Ale. Taking a crack at the very classic style this beer is 5.5% alcohol and comes in at 38 IBUs. Pouring the beer from the bomber bottle is is a colour of hazy amber with small but noticeable chunks in the beer. The sediment is the result of proteins from the hops and do not have a great affect on flavour but do look a little ominous in suspension. Topped with two fingers of dense and lacing head the beer has a lightly sweet aroma of toasted malt and citrus-grapefruit like tones along side a nice, tropical fruit character. Tasting the beer it is quite malty but the fruit tones add a spark to the flavour and inject life into the beer. The fruit character is quite enjoyable and balances the caramel-malt tones that would otherwise be fairly overpowering. The finish is again lightly sweet with toasted notes and is bone dry.

Alcohol – 5.5%
