Swans Brewery Sucker Punch Sour Ale Review Swan’s Brewery – Sucker Punch Citra Sour Ale Review

It is always refreshing to see a different take on a beer Label. Swan’s Brewery out of Victoria BC has done something rather unique with their latest seasonal brew. The Sucker Punch is a Sour Ale brewed with Citra Hops and the label is in the shape of a brass knuckled garden gnome. Getting beyond the label and cracking open the bottle this beer pours a colour of gold, is lightly clouded and has two fingers of dense head that tops the glass. Smelling the Sucker Punch it has a tartness to it with notes of passion fruit, pineapple and orange in a tropical package. On the nose the beer is sour but not over the top. Sipping the beer it packs a [sucker] punch. The sour tones hit early on and linger through to the finish. The tropical fruit tones of orange, lemon, pineapple and passion fruit ring through the flavour of the beer in a puckering package. The Sucker Punch is an intense kettle sour with a big, puckering hit of sour tones.
