Moody Ales – Honey Red Ale Review

Moody Ales Honey Red Ale Review In the Small Batch Series of beers from Moody Ales comes the Honey Red Ale. This limited release beer comes in at 5.5% alcohol and is sole in bomber, 650ml bottles. Pouring the Honey Red Ale it is an amber-brown colour with two full fingers of head that slowly settles from the top of the glass. By appearance this is a touch dark for a Red Ale. The aroma from this beer is of caramel, toasted malt and a light hop character. The Honey adds a touch of sweetness along side that of the malty base. The flavour is deep with toasted malt character taking hold. A Caramel and lightly burnt flavour take charge in a malt forward package. The honey content is subdued but adds to the toasted character and leads into a mildly spicy, hopped finish. The Moody Ales Honey Red Ale is not a characteristically BC-styled beer but brings with it a unique, toasted and malt forward flavour with a mellow honey infusion.
