From Victoria’s 4 Mile Brewing Company comes yet another uniquely styled beer. In a habit of pushing ingredient boundaries they have put together their Rice Pudding Porter as a limited release brew. From the bomber bottle the Rice Pudding Porter pours as an extremely dark, almost black colour with a sliver of head on top. From the beer comes a rich and sweet aroma of vanilla, chocolate, cinnamon and clove in a surprisingly spicy way. Tasting the beer it has the makings of a Winter Ale but remains a Porter at the same time. The spice notes are defined and clear but the roasted malt tones and light hop bitterness keep the beer from creeping into the deep end. The nutmeg tones come out strongest and leave the palate with a lingering spice tone long after the beer is gone. The flavour in this beer is a bit of a surprise from the name but a pleasant one at that with a big spice character.
