Old Yale Brewing Devilfish IPA Review Old Yale Brewing Co. – Devilfish Single Hop, Single Malt IPA Review

Old Yale Brewing has released the Devilfish, an IPA that uses a single malt and a single hop. Utilizing the relatively new, Ella Hop the Devilfish is said to have a tropical and citrus characteristic. Coming in a bomber bottle package the beer pours as a light amber colour with two fingers of lightly lacing head. An aroma of pineapple, passion fruit and citrus comes in on the nose in a big and tropical fruit explosion. The Ella Hop does great things to the nose of this beer. In tasting the beer a fairly light body leads into a tropical and spicy flavour profile. The pineapple and passion fruit tones lead into a grapefruit like bitter sweetness on the finish. The Single hop profile is complex and delicious and leaves the palate satisfied yet yearning for more. There are not a lot of beers that use the Ella Hop in BC but the Devilfish may just be a sign of things to come from this delicious Australian hop varietal.
