The Bridge Brewing Company went hop crazy this year with their Fresh Hopped Red IPA. Brewed with Magnum, Nugget, Centennial & Cascade Hops this beer is a fresh hop wonder that used more than 500lbs of wet hops for the brew. From the bomber bottle the beer pours as a slightly opaque, copper colour with two fingers of heavily lacing head. From the beer comes a spicy aroma with a light caramel sweetness to it. A light and fresh hop bitterness comes from the beer with notes of pine, citrus and grapefruit. The beer has a smooth body and the flavour starts off with a lightly sweet maltiness. This start quickly switches to a resinous, pine bitterness. The sap like freshness is similar to the taste of the fresh growth of a spruce tree. A grass, pine and citrus notes make for a truly fresh tasting beer. Those that love a hit of fresh hops will love this beer as they will hit you in the face like a baseball bat (in a good way) This beer packs a punch and with that comes a hugely hoppy, unique, Red IPA.

I just ordered this beer on tap at St. Augustine’s in Vancouver, and I’m loving it! A great hit of hops, but mellowed out considerably by the tasty malts. Very easy to drink.
