Persephone Brewing Co. – Multigrain Saison Review
The Persephone Brewing Company has brewed up a summer seasonal offering called the Multigrain Saison. Reminiscent of some whole wheat bread with seeds on it the name does not represent that image but rather the concoction of grains used in the brewing process. From the bomber bottle this Gibsons BC brewed beer pours as a cloudy, golden-yellow colour with three full fingers of lightly lacing head. As the head settles slowly an aroma of wheat, coriander, lemon zest and orange peel come off the nose in a fairly big-bodied way. The flavour is bigger than your typical Saison with the multigrain flavour giving a hearty body and a kick of wheat and even a touch of rye spice. The lemon and orange tones join a coriander spice to make a sessionable and flavourful summer beer. At 6% alcohol though the Multigrain Saison packs a little more of a punch and has a bit more body to it than typical. This beer looks great, it smells delicious and most importantly the taste is spot-on.

I wish there were some way to tell from your description how hoppy a beer like this was. I’d like to support Persephone, a local brewer, but so far I’ve found all beers a bit too bitter for my taste. If only there were a hoppy-to-malty scale of some kind that reviewers could refer to.
