Phillips Brewing Launches 2 Benefit Brews and 2 Puzzler Black IPAs

Benefit Brews and Puzzles

A side by side release of two Puzzlers, and 2 Benefit Brews

February 2nd – Two Puzzlers and two Benefit Brews are released today!  For the first time ever we’re releasing our classic Puzzler Belgian Black IPA side by side with a barrel-aged version.  All craft beer lovers are invited to join us at the brewery on Thursday February 5th for a tasting of these two special brews.

We are also thrilled to announce that the Victoria Humane Society Dunkleweizen AND the Alberta Animal Rescue Crew Society Dunkleweizen Benefit Brews are officially released!  This year the voting was so close that we declared a tie and doubled our brew size.  Full proceeds of this very special beer will be donated to their respective causes (~$10,000 each!).  The Victoria Humane Society beer will be available in private liquor stores in Victoria and Vancouver, while the Alberta Animal Rescue brew will hit the shelves in Alberta only.  If you would like to support these incredible animal causes be sure to get your paws on one early as it is a limited seasonal release and sure to go quickly.

Buckets of black malt give this beer a deep earthy-brown colour and a huge body.  Generous portions of bittering hops add balance and slightly tip the flavour profile to the hoppy side of the scale, while Belgian yeast endows this brew with a playful hint of spice.

*available for a limited time at select craft-focused private liquor stores.

This puzzle has an extra piece! Aged in freshly-emptied bourbon barrels, smooth velvet textures and subtle sweetness envelop the dark roasted malt body. Hop character is still evident, but has a more subtle presence than the classic-style.

*available for a limited time at select craft-focused private liquor stores.
