Wolf Brewing Co. - Black And Tan Wolf Brewing Co. – Black And Tan Review

A Black and Tan is not really a beer style but rather a blend of two very different beers. Traditionally poured at a pub in a fashion where you are able to separate the two beers vertically. Wolf Brewing has mixed the two styles at the brewery and bottled this hybrid beer for your convenience. The result may not show the traditional separation but the idea remains the same. Pouring a very dark brown colour this beer appears closer to a stout than the lighter additive. Topped with a finger and a half of lacing head the Black And Tan smells of chocolate, roasted malts and a light honey sweetness. The flavour is quite heavy compared to a typical black and tan much like the appearance leaning more towards the stout end of the spectrum. There is a certain lightness to the beer though which along side a creamy chocolate body makes for a mid-sweet, dark winter beer without the weight you may expect. The Wolf Black and Tan is a unique blend and a rather tasty beer coming from the reaches of Nanaimo BC.

I have always enjoyed a black and tan in a pub and enjoyed one i found a few years ago called Mississippi Mud or something like that. Sounds like one worth trying.
