Victoria’s 4 Mile Brewing Company has released a Brown Ale called the Grande Damn Wham This beer comes in a t 5.3% and a reasonable 40 IBU. The beer pours from the classy labeled bottle as a dark, yet clear brown colour topped with two fingers of densly packed head. From this dense cap of head comes an aroma which is malt forward filled with notes of toasted nuts and chocolate. The smell is fresh, deep and complex in a delicious-nosed package. From here the tasting starts off with a light body which builds into a nutty, toasted malt mid section. The chocolate tones expected from the aroma do not really come out in the flavour but rather remains a mid-bodied, nutty ale with a touch of hop-bitterness creeping in at the finish. The flavour in 4 Mile’s Brown Ale is not as complex as you may hope but the flavour is consistent with the style and a delicious nuttiness along side pleasant toasted malt tones make for an easy drinking and delicious Brown Ale.
