Yellow Dog Brewing Company – Bringing Craft Beer to the People of Port Moody

The Tri-Cities has until recently been relatively starved for Craft Beer brewed locally. One of the businesses looking to remedy this problem is the brewing team at Port Moody’s Yellow Dog Brewery. Here in the Rocky Point area of Port Moody a microbrewery is making waves and brewing up some new local favourite beers.

The Yellow Dog Brewery is not taking the typical approach in a few ways. The biggest aspect that you will notice is their contained picnic area behind the brewery. At this establishment there is seeting at the bar and around the taps but in addition there are picnic tables set out back where you can take your beer and enjoy in the warming, late summer glow. In getting to this unique outdoors seating you will also walk through the heart of the brewery breathing in all the glory of a true craft brewery. There is nothing to hide here as you can see it all and watch the beer you love be brewed right before your eyes.

When you make the effort to stop in and say hello at Yellow Dog you will be greeted with friendly faces and at least three beers on tap. Starting off with a Kolsch before moving on to a Pale Ale and an IPA the flavour is bang on and the lineup represents a solid West Coast inspiration in a sessionable and varied flavour portfolio package. These three beers represent the start of many more great things to come and while these may or may not remain in the lineup down the road one thing you can be sure of is that there will be beer and it will be delicious. As seasonal brews and experimentation batches emerge if you want to stay current and follow the flavour progression as things mature you better stop in often.

Yellow Dog has a fantastic location and is off to a great brewing start. The best way to experience this new BC based brewery is to make the trip yourself and stop in for a flight. You will not be disappointed!

Attention: Community Grant Chair and Members

I am writing on behalf of the Royal Canadian Legion, Port Moody Branch #119, to request your support for the upcoming Nov 11th Remembrance Day.

We, at the Port Moody Legion, are very proud of the efforts and respect that we put forth to honour our Veterans and their families on this very special day of Remembrance. Although we are currently closed for redevelopment, we must and shall continue the tradition to mark this very important day. Gratefully, the City of Port Moody has given us permission to hold our service, ceremony and reception at the Kyle Centre and Arts Centre this year.

The Community attendance on the street on the 11th Hour of the 11th Day of the 11th Month is historically over 4000 strong and growing every year.

Over 500 Cadets, Scouts, Girl Guides and Brownies join our Colour Party, Veterans, Legion member and our First Responders, to participate in the parade around the block to ultimately stop at the cenotaph for the official Act of Remembrance and Two-Minute Silence followed by the laying of the wreaths. We are extremely fortunate to have the world famous Simon Fraser Pipe and Drum Band parade every year; this being the 38th Anniversary of their attendance at our Nov 11th ceremony. We have the proud distinction of being the only Legion in Canada to present a 21-Gun Cannon salute, performed by the Seymour Artillery.

As we are closed for redevelopment and have no form of revenue; we are requesting your help in the form of a $1000.00 donation to put towards the food being served during our afternoon festivities being held at Kyle Centre.
Alternately, you could supply product for our event. We will ensure that your participation in our Remembrance and celebration is gratefully noted in the form of table thank-you notes in the name of Yellow Dog Brewing Company.

Let us take this opportunity to extend an invitation for you to attend our upcoming event for our Nov. 11th Act of Remembrance and ceremonies, on behalf of the Port Moody Legion, our Veterans and families and our Community.

We sincerely appreciate your taking the time to consider our request and we look forward to working together for this very worthy cause.

    Lest We Forget
    Respectfully yours,
    Faye Johnson
    President
    Port Moody Legion #119
