Old Yale Brewing Co. – Larry’s Irish Cream Stout Review
Old Yale Brewing Co may be under new management but the beer is on a steady track of success. Larry’s Irish Cream Stout was released for St. Patrick’s Day but it is a delicious option well after March 17th. This beer pours a black in colour with two fingers of head left lacing the glass. Through the head comes a dark and rich stout laced with Irish cream giving a smoothness and defined sweetness with a warming Bailey’s like scent. Along side a nutty coffee scent the smell is strong, dark and enchanting. The flavour too has a big-bodied foundation of a solid stout with the added twist of a lively Irish cream flavour. The sweetness comes through strong but the depth of the stout and creamy texture make this sipping beer a delicious bottle to share among friends.

I was pretty impressed with this one, it captures the Irish Cream nicely without completely taking over the stout. Kind of like an Irish Boilermaker (sadly referred to as an Irish Car Bomb) it makes a great St Paddy’s Day beer, but is welcome anytime of the year. Quite the creamy mouth feel as I recall too, which is always a crowd pleaser in a stout.
