Tin Whistle Strawberry Blonde Ale Review

Tin Whistle Brewing Co. – Strawberry Blonde Ale (2013) Review

Tin Whistle Brewing is in the heart of the Okanagan in Penticton BC and loves to brew with locally inspired ingredients. The strawberry blonde ale exemplifies this mentality in every way. This Okanagan harvest inspired blonde ale pours a lightly clouded, golden colour topped with a thin finger of quickly settling head. The smell is light and malt forward with a light strawberry sweetness tied to it. The strawberry tones are noticeable and easily recognized but are also by no means overpowering. The flavour is crisp and light starting off with a fresh blonde flavour. As the taste profile builds, a strawberry sweetness moves to the front of the mouth and makes for a relatively smooth and enjoyable fruit flavour. Strawberries can come across very sweet and at times rather harsh but the Tin Whistle Strawberry Blonde Ale takes just enough strawberry to make it noticeable without letting it rule the show. Strawberry beer may not be for everyone but this is a great example of what fruit can do to beer without becoming overly fruity beer.
