Townsite Brewing Inc. – Powtown Porter Review

The Pow Town Porter from Powell River’s Townsite Brewing Inc.  is a deep brown colour just letting a squeak of light through the body. This beer has a single finger of head and smells of malted chocolate and has a mellow nnuttinessto it. The taste starts off crisp and refreshing with building notes of bitter-sweet chocolate tones and a big, malted body. As the flavour progresses the malt flavour continues to grow but a hop bitterness replaces much of the chocolate tones. The remnants of a chocolate body remain with a touch of northwest hop and the solid malt tones lingering to the end. This is a solid porter with nice hop tones, a tasty chocolate bit and a solid malt base to prop it all up. Powell River is the home of some very delicious craft beer and the Pow Town Porter is by no means an exception.
