Red Arrow Brewing - Heritage River Hefeweizen Review Red Arrow Brewing Co. – Heritage River Hefeweizen Review

Duncan’s Red Arrow Brewing has come up with the Heritage River limited release beer. This hefeweizen was named after the Cowichan river and is a dark golden colour with 2 fingers of lacing head. The beer is slightly cloudy and gives off an aroma of northwest hop character, orange peel and mellow wheat. The aroma is not all that typical of a traditional hef. Tasting the beer it is light bodied and has fairly strong notes of orange peel and a touch of clove. In a blind tasting you may not guess that this is a hefeweizen. It has some classic notes of the Hef style but also blends american wheat beer character with Pacific Northwest flavour. This is a light, easy drinking wheat beer that is refreshing and a pleasant tribute to Vancouver Island’s greatest river.
