Townsite Brewing Thaddius Oud Bruin Review Townsite Brewing Inc. – Thaddeus Oud Bruin Review

The Thaddeus is an Oud Brun Belgian Sour Ale from Townsite Brewing Inc. out of Powell River, BC. This beer comes in 650ml bottles and pouring it is a colour of deep brown with nearly no head whatsoever. The aroma is sharp with a deep and earthy sour tone that is thick with wild yeast character, dark dried fruit and a mellow caramel-like sweetness. Tasting the beer there is a light carbonation early on which leads into a balance of sweet and sour tones. The sour notes come with most of the vigor, in a puckering way the wild yeast and sour acidity hit the cheeks hard. At the same time though a dark, dried fruit sweetness adds mouthfeel and balance to the equation. This is a fairly traditional oud bruin and while a touch more carbonation may be nice, it is balanced, true to style and if traditional Belgian Sour ales are your thing, quite delicious.
