Field House Brewing Dark Sour BottleField House Brewing – Blueberry and Blackberry Dark Sour Review

The second beer in Field House Brewing’s new Light – Dark series is the Dark Sour with blackberry and blueberry.  This beer pours from the 500mL bottle a cloudy, dark, berry-purple colour with one finger of pink head that dissipates leaving no lacing behind.  The aroma is of blackcurrant, plus notes of red grape, blackberries, lime and sugar, along with a hint of tropical fruit.  In the mouth the flavour is of intense blackberry with some apple cider vinegar balancing out a perceived fruit sweetness.  These flavours are coupled with notes of blueberries, grapefruit pith, dark fruits and a light, lingering tartness.  The Dark Sour is a medium-bodied beer with a lingering pithy sourness on the finish disguising a powerful 10% alcohol content.
