Fieldhouse Brewing Coconut Black Lager Review Field House Brewing – Toasted Coconut Black Lager Review

Field House Brewing has taken a southerly approach to the dark lager style by using Toasted Coconut. This beer comes from the 750ml bottle a deep and dark colour of nearly black. With three fingers or so of head the aroma is dark with notes of chocolate and coconut. The nose is not overpowering but has a distinct and smooth blend of smells. Tasting the beer it is light bodied but has a depth to the flavour. Starting out light the chocolate and coconut character builds into a rich and roasted flavour. The roasted character tastes slightly burnt and adds bitterness to the mix. The toasted character also adds body as the flavour progresses. The toasted notes take away from the coconut but add a unique and very flavourful mix to the black lager style.
