Squamish’s Backcountry Brewing Releases Core Craft Beer Lineup

Backcountry Brewery Releases Full Line of Core Craft Beer

Squamish BC is home to one of BC’s new craft breweries, Backcountry Brewing. In launching the brewery they have also released the list of beers that will make up their core craft beer lineup. Watch for these beers to show up soon at your favourite liquor store or stop in at the brewery for a taste first-hand.

Backcountry RidgerunnerRidge Runner Pilsner

German pilsner is characteristically dry and hoppy with a nice background bitterness. Ours is a classic example of the style brewed with Pilsner malt and hopped with Saphir and Spalt Select. The result is a crisp dry pilsner with a floral and spicy nose that offers a nice balance between hops and malt.

Powerhouse Porter

This robust porter is big on flavor but rings in on the lower side of alcohol for the style. We wanted to pack as much flavor into this beer as possible while still trying to keep it as sessionable as possible. This porter is brewed with oats for body and a silky mouthfeel which is there to compliment notes of rich bittersweet chocolate and coffee.

Backcountry Trailbreaker Trail Breaker Pale Ale

This pale ale will likely come across more like a session IPA than most pale ales in the market.  We kept the malt profile light so that the hops could shine. Copious amounts of Citra, Simcoe and Chinook were used to create a refreshingly fruity hop presence. This beer is unfiltered and un-fined to leave as much flavor and mouthfeel behind in the finished beer as possible.

ABV : 4.8%   IBU : 35

West Coast IPA

We love IPAs in all their forms. We brewed this IPA for those who like their IPAs to be more on the dank, piney and bitter side. We used a clean American yeast and a light clean grain bill to let the hops be the star of the show. We packed this beer full of Simcoe, Mosaic and Chinook to create this IPA with notes of the dank, fruit and pine. This beer is unfiltered and un-fined to leave as much flavor and mouthfeel behind in the finished beer as possible.

ABV : 6.6%     IBU : 60

Backcountry WidowmakerWidow Maker IPA

Our signature IPA is made in the east coast style. This style of IPA is characterized by a light malt profile with a big pulpy body that is there to compliment the intense juicy character coming from the hops. Despite the absolute truck load of hops used in this style of beer the bitterness is restrained and comes across more like that of a pale ale. In this beer, we kept the malt profile light but full and we threw in a ridiculous amount of Citra and Mosaic both in the kettle and in the dry hop to create this intense juice bomb. This beer is unfiltered and un-fined to leave as much flavor and mouthfeel behind in the finished beer as possible.

ABV : 6.5%  IBU : 45
