Driftwood has upped their sour game with a Framboise, raspberry sour ale called the Venatrix. This Belgian-Style brew pours from the bomber bottle a colour of amber red and has one finger of head which quickly settles without a trace. The aroma is tart with a yeasty-raspberry character that is pungent and distinct. Compared to many Framboise this beer is more raspberry-forward than is typical. Tasting the beer it too has a pungency to it from the Brett, Lacto and Pediococcus yeast that was used in conjunction with Raspberries. There is a slight residual sweetness that melds the sour tones together and adds balance. The Yeast notes linger long behind though and give an earthy, barnyard funk to the ordeal.
