Persephone Brewing Fresh Hop Ale Persephone Brewing Co. – Fresh Hopped Red Ale Review

Persephone Brewing has used the hops that they grow in Gibsons BC to brew their Fresh Hopped Red Ale. At 8.0% alcohol this is one of the biggest fresh hopped beers to hit the BC craft beer market in 2016. Pouring this beer from the bomber bottle it is a deep red hue and has a finger and a half of lacing head which tops the glass. Smelling the beer it is roasted with a malty, caramel tone and a touch of toffee. Along side comes the hop notes which are subtle bug add a grassy, earthy tone to the mix. The toasted caramel notes take charge on the nose. Taking a sip of the beer it is smooth and creamy on the tongue with a lightly sweet, caramel tone to it. The hops again are subtle but add a lightness to the beer that is only possible with the fresh flavours that come to the table. Persephone has brewed a delicious, big bodied Red Ale in this brew and made it unique using locally farmed, fresh hops.
