Persephone Brewing Hop Yard Red Ale Review Persephone Brewing Co. – Hop Yard Red Ale Review

Persephone’s Hop Yard Red Ale is brewed using the classic hop styles of Columbus and Cascade. This Red Ale comes in at the strong end of the style of 6.0% ABV and is sold in bomber bottles. Pouring this beer into a glass it is a deep red tone and is topped with two fingers of lacing head. The aroma is of true northwest style. Rich pine tones blend with a roasted, deep malt character for a full bodied aroma. Dark for the style the Hop Yard is a more intense smelling beer than your typical Red Ale. Tasting the beer it is intense yet balanced. A big toasted malt character exudes notes of caramel and a slightly burnt character while the hop tones give a bitter, pine note with a touch of citrus. The body too is big enough to stand up to the flavours. The higher ABV holds up the whole ensemble making the Hop Yard one of the bigger and more intense Red Ales available yet is balanced in its overall strength.
