Nelson Brewery Bent Pole IPA Review Nelson Brewing Co. – Bent Pole Unfiltered IPA Review

Out of Nelson BC comes the Bent Pole, an unfiltered IPA that pays tribute to the summer days spent fishing on the lake. This beer comes in bomber bottles and from that bottle pours a colour of
gold and is topped with two fingers of lacing head. From the Bent Pole comes an aroma of citrus, light pine and a tropical fruit hop character. Notes of mango, passion fruit and orange hit the nose in a big way. The flavour is also a balanced combination of tropical fruit flavour, light hop bitterness and a subtle malt basae. The label pegs this beer as a Northwest Style IPA but with Southern Hemisphere style hops this is a newer-school brew that deviates from the classic BC IPA style. It is less bitter and big with fruit flavour: overall a very tasty IPA.

I’m happy that more of these hops are bing used these days. I am a huge hop head but pine bomb after pine bomb can get old. Changing up the hops was exactly what the doctor ordered for IPA’s.
