Sherwood Mountain Brewing – Lava Bed Red Ale Review
The Lava Bed Red Ale from Sherwood Mountain Brewing takes it’s name from the 18th century eruption of the Tseax Cone in the Nisga’a Territory and the lava flow that ensued. The beer pours from the bomber bottle a deep ruby colour with two fingers of tan head that leaves behind some lacing in the glass. The aroma is of caramel, roasted tones, some sugary sweetness, and a hint of toffee. The Flavour is of rich caramel and roasted malts, fresh bread, along with light notes of plum and other jammy fruits. This medium bodied red ale is quite creamy though the finish is abrupt, and could use some extra bitterness to help balance it out.
