Red Collar Brewing - Cherry Sour Review Red Collar Brewing Co. – Cherry Sour Ale Review

Red Collar has brewed up a limited release beer that is a Cherry Sour Ale. This beer is reasonably strong at 7.0% and comes in bomber bottles. Pouring the beer into a glass it is golden-pink in colour and has two fingers of dense head that settles slowly atop the beer. The aroma is of wheat and malt with a light sour cherry infusion. The aroma is not overly sour or overly cherry-like but subtle and smooth in nature. Sipping the beer sour tones come through right off the bat with a sharp kick. A puckering sour takes charge early on leaving little of the malt character to be found. This sourness slowly settles in and makes room for the cherry tones and a mild sweetness to come forward. With the pinkish hue you may expect the cherries to be more front and centre but here they add a light twist to a fairly sour beer.
