Ravens Brewing’s White IPA Gives Back To MS Society

Ravens White IPA Label

Abbotsford, British Columbia On July 8, 2016 Ravens Brewing Company will be rereleasing our Elderflower White IPA. Floral, citrus and tropical fruit aromas are at the forefront of this summer inspired IPA. Although light in color and body, the Elderflower and along with a healthy addition of Amarillo and Citra hops and orange peel, give a bright juicy balance to a firm bitterness. For the first time, part proceeds from this IPA will be donated to the MS Society of BC and Yukon.

MS is a chronic, often disabling disease of the central nervous system comprising the brain, spinal cord and optic nerve. It is one of the most common neurological diseases affecting young adults in Canada. Most people with MS are diagnosed between the ages of 15 and 40, and the unpredictable effects of MS last for the rest of their lives.

“Ravens Brewing decided to give partial proceeds of our Elderflower IPA to the MS Society because we have a personal connection to the disease. This campaign is our way to raise awareness and funds to support those impacted by MS.” – John Dejong, Sales Manager at Ravens Brewing Company.

Ravens Brewing Company is a brewery located in Abbotsford, BC that uses locally sourced ingredients grown in the Fraser Valley to create a ‘Ground to Glass’ series of beers. One of the driving forces behind their first charity beer initiative is John Dejong. John’s wife Diana was diagnosed with relapsing remitting MS in 2012, after the birth of their first son. Since then, John has learned all too well what it means to take care of his family while also helping Diana cope with the disease. When John started working for Ravens Brewing Company last year, the brewery had an idea to sell a beer in which a portion of its profits would go to a charity. John proposed to have the first charity beer benefit those affected by MS. Diana’s love of IPAs inspired the choosing of their Elderflower IPA for this initiative.

Ravens Brewing Company plans to grow the charitable side of their work as they have only been in business for one year. John hopes that many people will consider supporting the initiative as he believes that it is not only a way to help people living with MS but also gives back to their local community. Their charity beer campaign will run until all bottles of Elderflower IPA stamped with the MS Society of Canada logo are sold. Bottles can be found in select stores, restaurants, and pubs throughout BC and can be found at http://www.ravens.beer/.
