Persephone Brewing - Brew The Change Review Persephone Brewing Co. – Brew The Change Collaboration Ale Review

Looking for Change the Persephone Brewing Company grouped together with 9 other breweries from across North America to brew a strong Wheat Ale with honey, cranberry juice and Yerba mate tea. This beer is branded using the B Corps logo and is a rather different take for Persephone Brewing. B-Corp is a certification for breweries that take a higher approach to sustainability and renewable practices. Pouring this beer from the bomber bottle it is a golden colour and is topped with two fingers of dense and lacing head. The aroma is not what you may expect as it is malt forward with a light honey sweetness to it. The Cranberry content is nearly non-existent and the Yerba Mate gives a light herbal note but is also quite mild. Tasting the beer the Yerba Mate comes through a bit stronger giving a herbal, mild spice to the beer. The Honey is subdued but gives a bit more body to the beer but the Cranberry is still quite light. The expected bitter-tartness of cranberry builds slowly as the bottle empties but never really grabs hold of the flavour. This beer is balanced and unique while being quite enjoyable but doesn’t quite live up to what the label may conjure up for you.
