The two east Van breweries that have “Street” in their names have collaborated to brew “The Streets” A Scottish Golden Ale with a hint of peaty smoke. From the bomber bottle is low, 4.0% alcohol beer is a golden hue that is topped with a finger and a half of head that settles slowly and without a trace. The nose of this beer is malty with a light smoke to it. The Peated malt ads a distinctive “Scottish” aroma to the beer without being too overpowering. Tasting the beer it has a sharp carbonation in the body with a relatively big body for such a low abv beer. The smokiness is quite strong relative to the other tones but a mild sweetness comes through along side. The beer has a big smoke character to it but it is still fairly balanced. The bigger body helps to tame down the big flavour while the carbonation gives a bit more of a refreshing note to this Golden Ale.
