Howe Sound Brewing Smoked PorterHowe Sound Brewing Co. – Sea To Sky Smoked Porter Review

The Howe Sound Brewery has started up a new line of beers called the Sea To Sky Series. The first, limited edition beer to be released in the line is a Smoked Porter. From the rather informatively labelled bottle comes a beer that is deep brown in colour, nearly black and has a finger of dark and lacing head. Smelling the beer it has deep notes of chocolate and smoke. The smoke is distinct but not over the top letting a deep malt profile sneak through the other aromas. This beer is big bodied and rather intense for a porter and is verging on Stout characteristics. Smoke tones take charge along with toasted caramel and chocolate flavours. Being big bodied and somewhat high in alcohol the beer more intense than your typical porter but still somewhat balanced. If you are into big, dark beers and like a bit of campfire while you are at it, this is a great example of a beer that you may just fall in love with.
