The Helga Hop comes from Australia derived from the German Hallertau Mittelfrueh. This aroma hop has a delicate floral and herbal aroma. With low to moderate alpha acid content Helga gives a refined and subtle hop flavour to many European style beers.
First released in 1986 helga is a silent workhorse for many craft breweries. On the mild-floral and spicy side of the equation it is a hop that doesn’t demand attention but makes a world of difference. This hop does not have any wild flavours but is a key ingredient in many classically styled, European ales.
Helga hops can be substituted for Hallertau as they are closely related. The Helga hop is also a less intense alternative to the Ella Hop variety.
